The electrifying lead vocalist and founder Katrice “BUTTERFLY” Newbill of New Orleans’ original all-female reggae band The Irie Dawtas has emerged (post-Katrina) as a solo performer usually accompanied by her 5-piece band Irie Soul. A veteran live performer and recording artist since 1990, Butterfly does all genres, including Reggae, R&B, Gospel, and more. BUTTERFLY has graced the stages of the House of Blues, New Orleans Jazz Festival, the Essence Music Festival, and Riverfest to name a few venues. She also has recorded and/or performed with Charmaine Neville, the Baptiste Brothers, N’Dea Davenport formerly of Brand New Heavies, and Irma Thomas, among others. With a vocal range from mezzo-soprano to first tenor, her audience is never disappointed and always leaves wanting more of “The BUTTERFLY Effect”. .
